Tax Exempt Status Granted to RBSM

  • Application for tax exempt 501(c)(3) charitable status was made on behalf of the Robert Burns Society of the Midlands by our  Past President Ronald Lockhart in December of 2003.  The IRS letter granting the exemption is available for all members and guests to the site who wish to make contributions to the Society.  This is a major step forward for RBSM in that silent auction donations, banners and other items donated to the Society are now tax deductible!
  • Contributions of monies may be mailed directly to our address at the bottom of this web page.  Make checks payable to The Robert Burns Society of the Midlands.  Contributions that are non-financial should primarily be items that can be sold during our Silent Auction fundraisers.

 Members enjoy the following activities:

  • Robert Burns Memorial Dinner - This banquet is major activity of RBSM and is held each January.
  • Beltane - Members get together each spring.
  • Ceilidh - The summer gathering is a family event.
  • Samhain - Provides members the opportunity to get together each Fall.
  • Kirkin' of the Tartan - Church services are usually held in January and March.
  • After Kirkin' Brunch - Following the services members join in a meal.
  • Tartan Day & Tartan Fest, in April Members share their Scottish interests with the public.
  • The Christmas Parade
  • A RBSM tent is available to members and their guests at two regional Highland Games - usually Charleston and Loch Norman.

The RBSM newsletter - Four issues a year help members stay up-to-date.
